I might use Midwest Fantasy Wargame, as it aims to reproduce (to whatever extent possible) how Blackmoor/early RPGs would have been played in 1972: https://rhampton.itch.io/midwest-fantasy-wargame-the-primeval-rpg
It's more of a "what if" than a retroclone. Still reading and digesting it, though.

We play Blackmoor as a part of the Mystara campaign (DA modules and beyond), so it's BECMI/RC for us.
