" This Elven artifact is of an arcane nature." Hororin says to his companions." I do not know what it does nor have I ever came across anything of its kind before. I suggest that one of us should keep guard of it. We don't want such an item to fall into enemy hands."

When the elves broke and ran, Ewart chased them into the woods, but soon turned back, being no match for them in the darkness, and unable to track them.
When he returned to camp, he looted the corpse of the elf that he captured, looked at his companions and smiled.
"It's all yours, Hororin," said, gesturing to the fist. "I'll take the gold from the one that I killed. And the boots as well, on the chance that I meet a tavern wench with small feet." He began working the boots off the bloody corpse of the fallen elf.

Grumm shaked his head, looking off into the deepening twilight. "We may be safe for now, but I think we should make a quick rest and break camp just before dawn. I would not want to be here if they return with friends, whoever they are."

Ewart nodded. "I'll remain on guard. Whether from the battle, or from the Silent Lady's herbs, I am not tired. We'll leave at first light."
He placed the elf's boots and gold into his pack, retrieved his sheath, and sat down with his back to a tree, and began sharpening his longsword.

" Ewart I shall stay up with you." Horrorin says as he places the magical herb around his neck." I cannot go back to sleep after all that commotion. And besides, my magic by be of some use to you."

"As you like," said Ewart, continuing to sharpen his sword. He lovingly scraped the blade with a fine whetstone, then polished it with a fur rag.
"Tell me, Horrorin," Ewart said softly, when he had ceased his scraping and put his sword away. "Did you happen to notice the direction from which our foes approached?"

"No, there was so many and I was asleep when they attacked our camp." Horrorin replies." Do you think they have to do anything with that one temple the noble was talking about?"

Ewart shook his head. "I know nothing of the cult of Fourga, but would be much surprised that they employed elfish assassins. I suppose there is naught to do but investigate the temple if we find ourselves there." With that, he lapsed into a thoughtful silence.
