There's alot to pick up on here, but I'm going to start in the middle. Smile

Chimpman Wrote:So I take it we are not talking about the Blackmoor of Mystara's past here, right? Same goes for the Blackmoor of Greyhawk's past. Otherwise we would know a lot more about the sphere.

So exactly which Blackmoor are we talking about?

Chimpman! Congrats on your first post here! Smile
Thanks Havard! I probably won't post as much here as I do over on the Piazza, but this is one of those topics that I find very interesting - and possibly also very useful for fleshing out Mystara's past (as well as it's solar system).

Quote:Whether or not this Blackmoor is going to end up as Mystara, I think it makes sense to use Mystara's past as a basis. Another way to look at it would be that we are using the BECMI cosmology.
This looks like a great starting point.

Cool. The Piazza must go on regardless of this place of course! I am hoping that another forum will spark more conversation rather than dilute the overall discussions. We shall see! Smile

I like the Mystara's past aspect because it allows us to discover a developing history rather than just a static setting. We can use what we have been talking about for Mystara's solar system, but keeping in mind how much time will have passed. Damocles is still around in this era, meaning there is no Mercury or Pluto yet. At the same time, Damocles has not reached its golden age, which I believe is triggered by Blackmoorian colonization.

Thanks! Smile

gsvenson Wrote:I vaguely remember there being two moons. There are parts of the setting that allow for meteorite showers (gods and other things falling from the sky).

This might also say something very interesting about Mystara! It would mean that at some point, Patera was actually visible in the sky! How and why that changed could lead to some very exciting adventures.

Perhaps this could be linked with a couple of other ideas from this thread. The Dark Moon is currently inhabited by the race known as Lunari. I am not sure if the Cat-races of the Wilderlands should already be associated with this moon, or perhaps they arrive here at a later point? However, Thanatos' plot to spread a plague to wipe out all life on this moon might succeed in the future? If so, perhaps Immortal involvement will make the moon invisible to preserve whatever life is left from outside influence?

Rafael Wrote:3. AS TO BLACKMOOR...

In the Wilderlands, we have the MACRAB civilisation, which is defined as "star travellers". I always assumed that IF we have to see the BM starship etc within a bigger context, it would be within that. - Apart from that, I am afraid I cannot comment, because this touches elements of my ongoing game here.
Lookie what I found!

When do I get my phaser?

Indeed. Lots of goodness in between the Blackmoor and Wilderlands settings. Another reason why they fit so well together Smile

I just ordered a copy of John Snider's Star Probe. I hope it can be mined for some more details on the stellar surroundings of Blackmoor's planet.

I have split off the discussion of Blackmoor and Star Probe / Star Empires into a separate thread here.
