That's actually what I was planning to do on last 1st October (Dave Arneson Day): an introductory one-off as a tribute.
This one-off adventure actually grew arms and legs and now I'm running a campaign / living world (using mostly the MMRPG modules from this website) with different characters can group every time differently and play adventures happening in various places at the same time. 8)
A really big thing to run!

Be ready for something like that!

Havard's been beating me to the punch lately, but I'd also like to raise a stein in welcome to the newcomers.

May you find plenty here to keep you entertained, and by all means, resurrect older threads if you've got questions or have something to add.

Good gaming,

Re: The Hello Thread! - DuBeers - 01-07-2018

I just realized I never said "hello" to everyone here! I'm "DuBeers" and also "Piper" on the various D&D (and T&T) forums.

Re: The Hello Thread! - Rafael - 01-07-2018

Hey, Piper! I am Rafael, the mod from OD&D '74. Happy to have you here with us! Smile

Re: The Hello Thread! - Rafael - 01-07-2018

...And, of course, a friendly welcome to all the other new arrivals!

I am exceptionally happy that Blackmoor seems to get a lot of love in recent years. It was and is a wonderful setting to tell and re-tell exceptional stories; I am way less active over here than I used to be, but it always warms my heart to read about how others have fun with the same setting I spent so many hours with.

Uther, once and always! Smile

Re: The Hello Thread! - Shesheyan - 01-12-2018

Greetings all !

Some of you may know me as Shesheyan on The Piazza forum. Gamer extraordinaire since 1980 when I started playing D&D Basic (Moldvay). I've played every edition of the game since then. I'm also a miniature wargames enthusiast (but nothing by Games Workshop - they are blacklisted).

Currently starting a Blackmoor campaign with a new group of young padawans in their mid-late-twenties. I past 50+ a few years back so I earned the right to say that ! I'll be using 5E since we all like it a lot for its relatively low crunch and streamlined mechanics. This is my first Blackmoor campaign. Currently own DA1 and DA2 in pdf format. Its the old school fantasy-science mix that attracted me to this setting.

Re: The Hello Thread! - Yaztromo - 01-12-2018

Welcome! I can relate quite a bit with your situation, but I started the campaign few months ago. I'm currently using very satisfactorily adventures from the MMRPG, as the character need to beefed up quite a bit before facing the difficulties of DA series, although modified to fit a native Blackmoor setting.

I see your taste in genre-blending match my own. Like you, I'm also running my first Blackmoor-based campaign, right here at the Comeback Inn: more science than fantasy at the moment, the Throne of Stars is set at the Empire of Blackmoor's height, in the time just before the Great Rain of Fire.

As I've mentioned over at the Piazza, the game is powered by the 1998-iteration of the Alternity ruleset.

I hope you'll keep us in the loop as to how your padawans fare in their adventures in The North.

Re: The Hello Thread! - Shesheyan - 01-13-2018

Thank you for the welcome Yaz and RobJN.

I'm a big fan of Jack Vance's and Gene Wolfe's fantasy-science blend. My players didn't want to play Numenera so I offered to play Adventures in Blackmoor instead. I don't see that as a consolation prize. I view this as an opportunity for younger players to discover something else then Forgotten Realms and Dragon Lance. I've created a FB group for the campaign. They are responding very well to all my posts about the history of the setting. I want to pass all the info to them via FB before we start playing. This way we will be able to play the adventure right away.

My campaign will only start in March. We are currently playing the « Curse of Strahd » 5E campaign book with another DM. I'm fine with that. It will give me more time to immerse myself with the Blackmoor lore.

Great having you here Shesheyan!

I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on the setting and your plans for your campaign as it develops! Smile
