Aldarron Wrote:the crater is a little broader and the domes look a little more like a pile of eggs. Probably the city is meant to mimic a dragon nest in appearance.

Wow! Now, why didn't I think of that?! Your eye is better than mine. I was simply thinking less about symbolism and more literally.

Yesterday, I started tinkering with Photoshop to get the creative juices flowing, and started to conceptualise the orig. drawing into an adventure map. I'll do a bit more later on.

The numbered circles will be elevated domes on columns (1 being the tallest in the centre, followed by 2, 3, 4, 11, 13 and 14; the others being on shorter columns), while the lettered circles will be domes at ground level and not surmounted on pillars. I'll have to make 'dungeon levels' too otherwise people might complain. Smile

This is awesome!

I am looking forward to seeing the project progress, but you are off to a fantastic start here with these maps.

super cool. If I get a chance I'll scan in Dave's original sketch for you.

I'd love to get a look at that! Big Grin

I may also map this location in a more traditional S&S/Fantasy manner for those who feel put-off by my SciFi interpretations. Then again, Blackmoor was no stranger to hi-tech stuff.

I like the current version, but a more traditional fantasy version would be interesting to see as well Smile

Here it looks like a single, outer crater, but with an elevation in the centre on which the city(?) rests. It's better done than I expected! 8)

I am fascinated by Arneson's illustration. Who were those characters? And the dragons? Why is one of the dragons wingless?
