Schenectady Wargamers' annual Council of Five Nations con is this weekend - about 350 conventioners attending. I ran Ran Blackmoor dungeon with OD&D and pregens of characters created by Svenson, Megarry, Nicholson, and Joe Vale. Had nine players and had to turn away a half dozen more.
Had a great time! None of the players had ever experienced OD&D before though there were a couple who had played BECMI and AD&D. They found the entrance in the gate tower and explored down to the third level. Killed orcs, spiders, and found the bodies in room 3. Ran from diseased bats in the basement. They managed to avoid some of the nastier encounters and only suffered one casualty. Great group of players. The con ends today.

Unbelievably (for me), the one-off, Blackmoor introductory game that I started on the 1st of October is very satisfactorily nearing its end and the players convinced me to expand it into a full-blown Blackmoor campaign.
