Re: Rafe's Blackmoor Campaign Overview - Rafael - 04-27-2015

Here are the two quick summaries of the two Blackmoor games I ran last week.

For my full report from "con season", check over here: http://odd74.proboards.com/thread/10892 ... 2015-diary

This weekend marked my reitrement from the local con scene, and as ou can tell, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Quote:The Siege of Glendower

A continuation of last year's "Firewater" adventure, set within the continuity of the Last Fantasy Campaign, my Blackmoor pet project ever since 2005.
A replay of the classic scenario/dungeon, as presented in the FFC - but with considerable simplifications, to make the setting work for an inexperienced party.
During the battle of Glendower, the party encounters the Flying Monk, and aids him with the exploration of Glendower dungeon, which in our story is connected to the tomb of the Grey Dragon. Unable to fight through the hordes of monsters - and, from the rear, the servants of the Egg of Coot - the party finally decides to abandon the dungeon, but at least manages to collect a few weapons that turn the tide for the defending Glendowerians.

Quote:That Thing With The Cow

Set in Dave Arneson's Blackmoor, within the LFC continuity. A replay of the classic scenario "The Hellcow", from the Atlas Games book, "En Route" - an old, but pretty famous d20-scenario. The game was really a "light" RPG - as I had foreseen what would happen: Given that our merry band of rogues only meets on this weekend of the year, we all were really drunk before the first hour of the game was over. Like, really drunk. Like, by Hextor, were drank like poets. And that cow beat them up pretty bad.

Back home, I realized those two might have been my last two games set in Blackmoor, ever. Now, to you guys, this might seem like a joke, because I have flip-flopped on the issue of my retirement from the fan scene more than an average NFL player contemplates his participation the sport, but this time, it's different: I'm selling or renting out my parents' house this year. I am giving away about three quarters of my old gaming collection, or rather, of of my old stuff, in general, an event that I can only dramatically describe as "The Great Decluttering". Not a good time for nostalgia, but a good time for new beginnings. Smile

I still love BM - and you happy little lot of grognards, of which I have grown to regard as good friends and acquaintances over the last ten years - but it's about time I start something on my own.

So, as I put my FFC into one of those white boxes I use for the move to another house - farewell, ye Northern Marches! We had some fun together!

...But obviously, I am not going to leave before the LFC booklets are done.

You'll here about them here at the CBI first! Oh, and here, obviously:

Please *like* to give me some extra motivation!

My dear firend, Im not in social media at all (maybe I'm the last of my kind...) but please accept my personal "like".

Re: Rafe's Blackmoor Campaign Overview - Rafael - 05-05-2015

Hehehehe. I am flattered, Yaz. Thank you for your kind words! Big Grin

I will do my best to get all the manuscripts done before the summer,
with a public release (hopefully, doesn't depend on me all too much) in autumn.

After that, I will depart on a new project, called "The World of Meleon".
Blackmoor will always remain my first love, but, after all, it's someone else's property.

Got to find a place for my own. Smile

Re: Rafe's Blackmoor Campaign Overview - Rafael - 09-22-2015

A small postscript concerning the LFC booklets:

The manuscripts are long done, but the overall layout and editing is not. At this point, I am intentionally withholding them - or rather, saving them for a better moment.
First, there's a lot of rumors about new BM stuff being released fairly soon, and, second, I am obviously busy with Meleon.

I still intend to finish the booklets some day, though, but after all the delays, and changes of plans, I'm gonna say, the Blackmoor's 50th anniversary might be a more appropriate date than some random date. Smile

Anyway, Asterion it is, for my online group, and Gravesend, for my home campaign...

Updated the first post, with a few minor edits. Smile

A few more, minor edits. Perhaps for the last time in a while. Smile

Working on it, but might take a few days. Smile

Re: Rafe's Blackmoor Campaign Overview - Rafael - 01-19-2016

Days of Rain should be online, again, if the vile goblins at Wordpress have not forsaken me.

The LFC page on Facebook, howver, has been merged with The World of Meleon:

https://www.facebook.com/swordsofasterion/

This page is *in theory*, of course, solely dedicated to what we do with the new game; in practice, however, it will cover everything we do as a gaming group, as "The Company of the Maiden", or under another name. - So, if you want to follow our future exploits, folks, please subscribe. If we reach 750 likes, I'll have to write A SECOND short story!
