So if he decides to put the ruins inside Vestfold walls, possibly the best place is in the Old Town?

Excellent.

Thanks! From all these encouraging responses, I got brave enough to post one for Jackport as well.

I will admit that city maps have always been a challenge. I haven't seen that many other good fan made city maps out there either.

For Blackmoor's City maps, I do like to add features that can be drawn from the source material. In most cases the descriptions will note whether the city has walls and other central buildings will usually be mentioned. The D20 line has descriptions of most of the towns and cities and going back to the NPC section of DA1 can also be useful, looking up local barons or other characters linked to that area.

In the case of Vestfold, some things have been changed between the DA line and the ZGG line. In the DA modules, the Wizards Cabal secretly controls Vestfold through the local Thieves Guild leader Miklos Haruska, whereas in the ZGG line, the Wizards Cabal's control of the city is well known. This leaves open the question of the role of the Thief Guild Master. Most likely his allegiance has then been switched to the Eldrich Underground, or even the Thonian Empire?

Re: City Maps: Vestfold - Yaztromo - 02-09-2013

There are plenty of ways to make a map of a city (and I'm not even half decent at any one of them  ).
This is another style that I like (still fan made), but I think it requires definitely some skills that I don't have...

That is a very cool map, but yeah I am generally pursuing styles that are actually possible for me to accomplish and preferably without spending a year on each map Wink

Re: City Maps: Vestfold - tarlyn - 06-15-2013

Know this is rather late from everyone else, but Havard turned me onto this thread. I had some questions about Vestfold. I have procured the campaign sourcebook.

1031 is the date.

The reason why I am seeking knowledge is I am going to be running a Ravenloft campaign and going to incoprorate Vestfold into the land of the mists!

Havards map is great. Seeing as I know little to nothing about Blackmoor, even though I played in Rafael's campaign, Rob's campaign and Havards I know next to none
about it.

Any helpful insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. The campaign will start in August right here on this site. Its title is The Hunters.

Re: City Maps: Vestfold - RobJN - 06-16-2013

Most of my information on Vestfold comes from the DA series of modules, and the d20 Blackmoor material, so it's likely you know as much about the city as I do, tarlyn Wink

When all else fails, grab the place names firmly and make stuff up around them -- that's how I've been doing it in the Throne of Stars campaign and Thorn's Chronicle. (Shhh, don't tell!)

Re: City Maps: Vestfold - tarlyn - 06-16-2013

Thanks Rob. I think I'll make it up. This being Ravenloft, something in the city might be missing in its transfer from Blackmoor to the Demiplane........
