it seems that Ari contributed to chapter 1 of the Wizards Cabal. I think Jeff Quinn wrote most of the rest of that book. Although I think both are excellet game designers, I found this book to be a little disappointing. There is definitely good stuff in the book, but there are also parts I do not like as much as many other books in the Blackmoor series.

Yeah, I think it is the only DAB book that credits Dave as an author instead of just "lead designer". I don't know if that means something or not.

Actually, Wizards Cabal is one of my favorite DAB books, regarding the history bits and the various magic info and spells.
