Instead of the usual pizza we had a bucket O' FRIED CHICKEN! We entered again into the Summer Doldrums with a lack of Players so we started playing board games.
Last night we played old Avalon Hill's "Rail Baron", with four Players (one visiting Player who does not play Hackmaster, ever).
We got off to a good start with all four of us starting in different corners of the U.S. I and our visitor locked up the NorthEast rather early. One other ended up buying up most of South Central, and a fourth, having a round of bad luck took only what he could get. It became a contest over who could get the last three expensive railroads. Luckily, it was I, then it was only a matter of time although our visitor came in close. Finally after getting over $200K, my home was New York. And I decided NOT to declare yet to make my final trip home. Mainly because my 2nd place opponent was just sitting there in Portland Maine waiting for me to try. So I rolled normally for my new destination. As luck would have it, I rolled NorthEast, THEN I rolled New York. Rules being what they are, all I had to do was move normally and declare once I got there without interference, so we called game over.
