Just saw this pop up in my podcast feed. The crew takes a look at the Judges Guild First Fantasy Campaign.

Haven't listened just yet, but thought I'd give ya'll a heads up....

Thanks for the heads up. It was fun listening to them read through it. They ended up giving a much more positive review than with Supplement II, which makes sense.

They get into a few things that sound like old news to me like the classic misconception of the Egg being Gary and for some reason they seem to think that the humorous way the book is written means that the setting is meant to be goofy. However, they do appreciate various parts of the book that are not so often talked about, so it was fun to listen to them.

Yeah,
I also felt like it took forever for them to get to the actual FFC. OTOH, one of the emails they go through in the first segment is from our own Aldarron where he in a polite manner points out some of the mistakes from the previous podcast. Worth listening to. Still not convinced that Brian Blume created the Monk Class though.

Another part of the podcast I did enjoy was the comparison they make between the FFC and other JG products. It seems that they were more mindful about looking at contemporary products when making their criticisim this time around than they were when they were looking at Supp II. My point is not that they should be appologetic towards the game books of the 1970s, but it did seem unfair to single out one product of the time for something that was pretty much standard issue.

To be fair they did moderate some of their statements in the first Blackmoor podcast as well.
