Still going backward in time, I had to jump back 3 weeks because my game is on Tuesdays in a brick and mortar store, Tuesday the 18th of December was my mandatory company Christmas Party, the Tuesday the 25th was Christmas and the store was closed, Tuesday the 1st of January was New Years' Day and the store was closed. So the prior game was on the 11th of December:
This Tuesday we finally tried an anchovy pizza!
The party, while traipsing through the woods in their brightly colored new clothes, encountered a party of camo-clad, heavily armed men whom the party presumed to be the "Brothers" of the Greenwood. Unfortunately they were Brigands, who were quite happily prepared to fill that role as long as it suited them. Rather than attack them in their sleep, the Brigands decided to turn them in and sent two of their number South towards Barbarian HQ.
Snizzlephish and Weasel, who had shadowed the party invisibly as backup, noticed this and followed the pair through the night until determining their purpose and promptly killed them. Weasel flew back to the Party wit and Snizzlephish made his way back on the ground.
In the meantime the party were treated as honored guests and spent the night around the bright campfire. A fire their hosts stoked early in the morning with green firewood and some fresh leaves. Having asked for directions to the "Well of Souls" the party was led out of the forest and to the Southwest. Shortly thereafter they were approached by a pair of Red Dragons and Dragonriders.
GM's note: The Dragons were not forewarned, they were merely investigating the cause of the smoke created by the campfire.
Tactically, the party's camo-clad escorts fanned out as though preparing a defense, but as if on pre-arranged signal fired collectively on the party's NPC cleric. After a couple rounds of this (and some Magic Missiles from one of the Red Dragons correctly surmising the situation), he dropped after failing his threshhold of pain check.
About this time Weasel showed up in the nick of time to distribute his stash of alien weapons and issued several Model S3 Blaster Rifles (without training). He pre-set them to the Black setting and simply told them to do what he does. Several attempts at Blaster fire were unsuccessful, as the Dragons made their Magic Resistance check in any case.
At this time we took a picture of the tactical situation and called it a night.
Surrounded by Brigands and two Red Dragons and one 13th level Cleric down, how could they lose?
