Do you have a copy of Adventures in Fantasy? Are you both intrigued and confused by some of the rules? Are you interested in the rules but have become frustrated with trying to wade through some of the wording in the rules? Would you like to change that? I know I would and I am asking for some input if you feel the same way.

I have a copy of Adventures in Fantasy I bought several years ago on ebay for less than $20 before interest really picked up. As interesting as I have found reading through the game I never have felt like I "got it". There are some things that needed clarifying before the game was released and I wish that Arneson & Snider could have released a proper second edition of the game.

What I propose is simple - I am asking anybody interested to pull out their boxed set of the rules and start going through the books at your leisure. Just make some notes about whatever is confusing to you. I am going to do the same thing in the coming week. I will soon - in the next day or so - start a post covering the problem areas of Book I. I will start by posting the stuff that confuses me. Feel free to add to the list with other confusing spots or suggestions for fixes even. I will do this for Book II and for Book III also.

When we have all of the confusing spots cleared up we can do one of two things - we can assemble a Book IV: Book of House Rules and Clarifications to be used along with the boxed set or we can assembled a fan version that could basically serve as a second edition. If people are uncomfortable with the second option, we could do a game "heavily inspired" by the reactions to AiF similar to how T&T was first produced in relation to D&D.

Some interest from me. I'm like you in that I scan through the rules and they somehow don't click, or maybe they just don't grab me, or something.

I'll pull out my box and re-read. Sounds like an interesting project.

Thanks finarvyn and Havard! I'm glad both of you guys are in.

Quick question: would it be better to just list one issue per post in the the thread? I think it would because anybody responding could just quote the post to add thoughts or suggest a solution. I think that would be easier to follow than each post listing multiple issues.

This is my first time doing something like this so I was just wondering if anybody else had a different viewpoint to offer.

I think one key idea per thread works a lot better than a bunch of things crammed into a single thread, becasue those single thread posts get crowded and good stuff gets lost.

If we think this is serious, it might be nice to have a section of the boards devoted to AiF. (Or I could create one at OD&D Discussion.)
