Games are on Monday night sometime after 5:30PM at World's Best Comics, 9714 Warwick Blvd Newport News, Virginia 23601.

This is the report from two week's back. I skipped last week due to coming down from a game convention, I had to chill-out from gaming. Again I forgot the type of pizza we had.

Former players who opted out for game reasons to are invited reappear next session to role-play NPCs in the current City situation. I have some tasks for you to do for this style of play.

++++ START OF SESSION ++++

Aerys rejoined the party after a stopping at a couple of taverns. First the Waterside Hostel then for a few brews at the Broken Mug Tavern using her "Idle Gossip" skill to glean information about town. From a serving wench at the Broken Mug she is told that there are odd things going about City Hall. Finally taking her leave, Aerys staggers out to rejoin the party.

The Party, after selling off their slaves went to bank their money at the town's only financial institution called "Your Money or Your Life" (an insured member of the Banker's Alliance, complete with a placard saying so on the door.) Aside from the four burly guards The Bank Manager (and apparently they only banking employee) Erik Swinkler, converts their gold to platinum for a small fee. Then they ask if they can convert their coin to gems and are told the bank does not do that, they have to visit the town jeweler.

(This is a typical role playing game procedure whereas Players convert heavier coin to more valued coin decreases the weight carried. Converting coin to gems makes the weight carried lighter still.)

Also while there once again Aerys gains some idle gossip in that Erik tells her there are strange things going on at the local Brothel. Well at least stranger than what you would think goes on at a brothel.

Leaving the bank, the party then makes their way down the street to a heavily fortified building called "Jaded Delights", which appears to be the town jeweler and gemcutter run by a dwarf named Thordin Brighteye. While the party did not convert any coin, the party asked Thordin to appraise a large blue gem they found. Thordin said all they had was a large chunk of blue quartz, pretty but all the he could do is make costume jewelry out of it. The Party having some smashed gold and silver rods that got flattened along with Dornorin when the ceiling slab fell on him, asked Thordin if he could work the gold, silver, and the big blue quartz and make some costume jewelry. He agreed and it would be ready in five days.

Meanwhile once again Aerys' idle gossip skill worked out and she was told last month the mayor attempted to get him to sell this "really odd rock" on consignment. The je

Having three rumors, two pointed to City Hall, and one to the Brothel, the party decided to check out City Hall. Despite Jacko's misgivings. (He really wanted to check out the Brothel.)

Leaving Huang's Monk followers outside City Hall, the rest of the Party found themselves in a bureaucrat's paradise. Seeking an audience with the Mayor, they were told to wait. While waiting, they were told to sign their lives away by the clerk with their names, social security and major credit card numbers, (it is all standard procedure, you see).

After a short eternity they were allowed upstairs to see the Hizzonor Theron Skragg. After introductions in his sumptuous office they all sat down on the finest upholstery. They began by asking a general question about "What's all this we hear about strange goings on at City Hall?" They were easily assuaged by the syrupy smooth response from the Mayor (he is a politician after all).

Changing the subject they asked about the rock he tried to pawn off. "You mean that rock over there?" and Theron points to a stone in a trophy display. As a person, the party looked at the rock and decided it was a very unusual looking mineral, gemstone in quality, and were puzzled why the gemcutter refused to sell it.

In any case, the Mayor schmoozes the party to another topic of conversation, and contracts them out to find "What's wrong with the Thieves Guild." "Crime has dropped to an all time low and it's like there is no Thieves Guild anymore." The Mayor advances them 200 gold pieces for this and gives them directions.

(Coming from a City Hall, this almost makes sense. Either that or 12 days past the game date, I have forgotten the story. It was either that or a contract to check out the sewers.)

Departing City Hall, the party heads towards the location of the Thieves Guild, an average building marked "Feed Store". Checking for traps and finding one, but not figuring out how to bypass it, Huang walks up the steps to the front door and springs the trap falling into a cage. He pulls himself out.

Aerys on the other hand simply flies to a broken second story window and enters in goes downstairs and lets the party in. As soon as the front door is opened, an orange-stripped cat dashed out from behind some broken furniture and out the front door.
