Jon Peterson's reveals an issue of Dave Arneson's Corner of the Table where Dave talks about an attack on Lake Gloomey in which Svenny was wiped out(!) by an army of Orc Pikemen. The day was saved by (Baron) Jenkins and Fant.

A second wave of attacks was launched by the enemies (lead by Kurt Krey) after the mysterious disappearance of Baron Jenkins.(What's this?) Jenkins seems to have returned though as his forces are mentioned fighting in the battle along with the Belfry Brothers, Ross Maker, David Wesely, Dale Nelson and Dave Megarry and others (Maybe Svenny here too?). David Belfry's character was killed and Dale Nelson's character was captured (presumed).

Some interesting observations by Jon Peterson on different horses and how a Super War Horse (as mounted by Wesely) would even be able to cause serious damage to a Dragon.

Also, I note that the east gate of Loch Gloomey had a cannon, used to kill a Giant in league with Kurt Krey (who also rode that dragon).

I wonder what wiped out means. Were the characters killed? Or simply their forces? If killed, we do know that ressurrection was possible in this setting, so one would assume that they were brought back to life again?

I was out of town when this battle was fought. Svenny was taken along as an NPC without asking me. As I understand it, the other players decided to see how far Svenny could go without their support. They may have thought that Svenny could win the battle by himself. Svenny was killed after killing over 200 Orcs singlehandedly. Dave Arneson apologized to me when I came home (weeks later) and had Bishop Carr resurrect him. I was not briefed on the other details of the battle or maybe I didn't hear the other details...

Greg, do you remember that out of town trip? I'm wondering because maybe if you know when (approximately) the trip took place we would also know when the battle took place. The CoTT only says "last spring".

I was gone for six weeks from late June to early August in 1972. I was working as a dishwasher at Camp Kooch-a-ching (probably spelled wrong) on Rainy Lake a little east of International Falls, MN that summer.
