In my campaign, there are no Orcs, Goblins, Hobgoblins or Bugbears. There are only Beastmen, a race of foul monstrous humanoids which first appeared after the destruction of the Temple of Id.

Recently, it has been revealed in the game, that although Beastmen can give birth to other Beastmen, it is just as common to use a kind of dark magic which transforms humans, dwarves, elves or halflings into Beastmen. Often, unwilling captives are used in these rituals. In a few cases, individuals who have been forced into such a ritual are able to resist the transformation for a time, but eventually they all become Beastmen, loyal to the Egg of Coot.

My main reason for going with this idea was that it presented alot of adventure ideas. Rescuing captives before they are transformed, or destroying the dark temples used for such rituals have been the focus of several adventures.

Humans being tranformed into monsters is a recurring theme IMC. Frogmen (or swampfolk as they are called IMC) are also humans who have been experimented upon.
