I was a huge Marvel fan as a kid. I grew up on the Hulk, Spiderman, Micronauts and Godzilla before switching over to everyone's favorite Cimmerian at 11, but I remember those days fondly. I could never really get into the DC heroes for some reason and if I'm honest I don't suppose I ever really tried that hard with such a great stable of characters available from Marvel. My only real contact with Captain America was an issue of What If? where he crossed paths with Conan through some sort of inter-dimensional portal, but I love the concept behind him and probably should check out some of those old issues sometime. The movie sounds like another great time from the current stream of Marvel hero movie reboots :D

What Marvel misses, lamentably, is an artsy line for their characters. (At least I don't remember that they had one.)

Like, DC has remained popular even with casual fans (like me) simply because from time to time, they let Tim Sale, Frank Miller, or Mike Mignola
do crazy stuff with their characters. Marvel sort of loses out on that. Like, the last Moon Knight was capital-letter-AWFUL, and the last time I
thought Daredevil was worth a look was during the Yellow miniseries, and that one is also from a few years back.

That said, Captain America was probably the only superhero movie I truly liked, so, Disney better deliver with the sequel.

Really? - Interesting, but then, taste is taste. For me, CA was quite interesting, because I am attracted to historical takes on supheroes,
not so much on the upteenth modern-day rendition. Like, the route X-Men First Class went, for example.

Overall, it's not like I didn't like Marvel. Moon Knight, probably the only superhero comic book I still read with a certain regularity.
But overall, I guess I simply like DC more: More basic morale discussion, more depth to most of their characters, and, finally,
a model more rooted in the pulp series of the 30s and 40s, which, until today, are a guilty pleasure to me. :)

Captain America was a nice movie, but I agree with the norwegian that it was my unfavoritest of the bunch (that I have seen, but I refuse to watch Ed Norton's Hulk). Iron Man has Robert Downey so both of them are quite unbeatable + Black Widow* (and the 1st is still in my never humble opinion the greatest superhero film of all time - beats even Dark Knight) and I have a huge soft spot for Thor (KIRBY HATS!). My problem is most with Cap as a character, I just don't really like him outside of the leadertype in ensemble casts (which is why he worked so well in Avengers) unless they go the douche Cap route and have him kick people in the face when they are down.

That said - Winter Soldier is an amazing storyline (and the best comicbook Marvel is putting out nowdays, easily), so this one should be great. I have faith :)
